"Edgy, steamy, action packed, and plotted with nail-biting tension..."--Library Journal, Starred Review
In the harsh Northern Waste where human life is worth little, ice trucker Raina Bowen has learned to keep her eyes open and her knife close at hand. She's spent her life on the run, one step ahead of the megalomaniac who hunts her. All she wants is to stay out of trouble and haul her load of grain to Gladow Station—but trouble finds her in the form of a sexy stranger called Wizard. He has the trucking pass she needs, and she has to drag him out of a brawl with the very people she's trying to hide from in order to get it.
She may have rescued him, but Raina's not foolish enough to see Wizard as anything close to helpless. He's hard and honed and full of secrets—secrets that may destroy them both. As they race across the Waste, trying to outrun rival truckers, ice pirates, and the powerful man bent on their destruction, Raina's forced to admit that trouble's found her. And this time, there's nowhere left to run.

I first thought that maybe I had seen a movie like this. No, that wasn't it. Could I have read it before? Since I have had my Kindle since the end of 2012, when I checked the date I knew that couldn't be true. But the more I read, the more familiar the book seemed. Checking the beginning info and then the back notes from the Author, I found that this was originally published in 2007, with this version being the revised digital publication. AHA! Mystery solved, I must have read it back in 2007, paperback version.Though I realized that I'd read it before, it's a testament to the writing and the story that I decided to continue reading. Yes, again. Even though I RARELY ever re-read a book. It had action, romance, mystery, and an interesting locale. The writing is good, and the plot moved along. And even knowing what was going to happen, I enjoyed the read.
I wish there had been more background on the events that led to this post apocalyptic world. Maybe the next book (which I don't THINK I've read.....)

Driven A Northern Waste Novel Volume 1 Eve Silver 9781988674018 Books Reviews
3rd Person. Dual PoV w/miniscule other PoVs.
Post-apocalyptic/Dystopian Ice Road Truckers.
Think Mad Max meets Hanna with a smidge of the Terminator thrown in.
Fan Cast would be Icy Jason Mamoa as the Assassin Hero, Saoirse Ronan Heroine just trying to survive, Dichen Lachman as Yuriko and Andy Serkis as the Arch Villain.
This was Fantastic! Loved the twists and turns Definitely recommend.
There's also a Novella & a second book, but this is a complete story with a HEA.
I agree that this book was well written. The characters were well developed and the harsh reality of the post apocalyptic world well described. The best part for me was the mix of genres; mystery, romance and action. Wizard was so interesting to me I loved his character and the unique dichotomy of being emotionless and yet empathetic. I enjoyed that the romance was realistic; the character development was necessary and the sexual tension so real. A true story, that pulls you in and allows you to experience all the emotions right along with the characters. I read this book in one setting and I will be skipping book 1.5 simply because I am impatient to learn about Tatiana in book 2!
I read voraciously - at least 2-3 books a week, but I rarely take the time to write a review ( a bad habit I know because I myself depend on reviews both bad and good before I purchase a book) but sometimes a book touches me so much that I am driven to put aside my job, my house work and my reading and write a review. This book was one of them...
I generally dont like post apocalyptic books, because as someone who is an animal lover and a nature lover (I cry when I see a old tree cut down) it hurts to read (even in fiction) about the destruction of our earth. But this book although hints at major changes, doesn't go into painful details but instead focus's on the strength of the survivors, the world they are building and of course on the H/h. And the H/h are just amazing!! What I loved most is that although this was more or less a romance oriented Sci-Fi novel, they were both so grounded in reality, not doing anything stupid coz they got hurt and even able to see beyond the hurt in a short time. And I loved Wizard ....
The world building, the emotions, the stark landscapes were so realistic and so well done, I found myself feeling cold while reading about the frozen wastelands, although I live in a tropical country which was going through a heat wave with temperatures averaging 100 F while I was reading this book. I think that explains how well written this book was.
And did I mention how much I loved Wizard? )
This non-stop action adventure features Raina, a totally badass heroine. She's strong and tough and pretty damaged because everyone she's ever trusted has betrayed her. You'll cheer for her. Raina needs someone on her side.
Raina meets a man who appears to be big and gorgeous and dumb as a sack of hammers. But wait! He's actually geeky-smart and talks like he was raised by a computer. This big, gorgeous nerd is lacking in social skills and is completely clueless about human emotions. What could these two possibly have in common?
Warning there's some romance in this story. There's some sex too, but it is between consenting adults who are responsible about practicing safe sex.
Give it a read! I don't give out 5 stars every day.
Driven was a lot of fun. I typically don’t read dystopian futuristic books but the reviews were good and did claim to be a romance. Really glad I read it. I found it very creative, fun, and action packed. For the romance, the sex scenes were well written, not too long or graphically detailed and liked the chemistry of the main characters. The romance was paced really well, no stupid insta-love. Don’t let the lame name of our hero Wizard deter you.
Some flaws our Villain Bane (why is that name alway synonymous with a bad dude?) was kind of over the top sadistic without any real understanding as to why. He was underdeveloped and one dimensional. Some of the world building could have been fleshed out more. For those reasons I gave it a 4.
I think this author can write and is creative. If you like romance, action and adventure this book is for you.
I love action-packed sci-fi books with believable hot, steamy romance. Driven delivered most of my wish list
A harsh futuristic world, a barren and hellish country within which to exist, and a badass heroine harboring an internal rule breaker just waiting to emerge. Then there's the yummy but glacial badass hero, one named Wizard no less, and a seriously twisted villain.
Plot started at a run and quickly jumped to a screaming, break-neck pace. LOVE books that snatch me by the hair and drag me along for the ride. The relationship between our badass couple had a tedious emotional beginning but when they finally connected and worked their isss-ues out...hot and steamy crossed the solid love finish line.
Think I'll read book two....now.
